40W LED Auxiliary Lights Driving Light Kits for BMW Motorcycle K1600 R1200GS R1100GS F700GS ADV

I bought the lights to be seen, not to see. I want to be seen by other drivers. And they are bright for sure. Here is my review

I recently installed these lights on a BMW F700GS. The bike has moto tech crash bars and I mounted the lights to the bars. The lights seem very well made. They are solid seem like they will hold up well. The glass lens looks very thick. The install was fairly straightforward even though they do not come with instructions. A few items you might want to be aware of. First, the rock guards do not fit. Just toss them. The lights have indents where the bracket connects, and the bracket sits into the indents. The only way to attach the rock guards is between the light and the bracket. But since the rock guards are flat, they don’t fit into the indents. Not sure why they are included. And a minor note about included washers. There are 8 washers that come with the kit. Two each for connecting the light bracket to the light. And two each side for connecting the light bracket to the motorcycle bracket. The washers for the light bracket do not fit into the indents. They are too big around. So I used the other washers there. But the washers for the light bracket are two small to fit over the bolts that connect the light bracket to the motorcycle bracket. So I had to find some that fit. Basically the included washers don’t work correctly but it’s easy to get different ones.

The wiring harness that comes with the kit is very good. The lights come connected to a pigtail that could be used for a different wiring harness or a DYI harness. I just removed those and used the harness it came with. Keep in mind the harness will have power to the on/off switch at all times. So when you turn off the bike and the switch is on, the lights will remain on. if you want the lights off, you have to always turn them off.

If you want the lights to be connected to the ignition so they go off when the switch goes off, then you need to modify the harness a bit. There are 3 wires that go to the switch. Black, white, and blue. The black is ground, the white is 12v going to the relay, and the blue is 12v coming from a source. The blue wire will always be hot if you don’t make a change. I cut the blue wire and connected the section going to the switch to an ignition source. Now when the key is off, there is not 12v current going to the switch. The switch can be on or off and the lights will be off.

Customer service was very responsive to all of my questions. Kudos for that. But they weren’t really helpful in answering my questions. They sent me a second wiring harness and I created a YouTube install and review video.
